Inclusion and My PLN

In the past, I didn’t give much thought to the inclusiveness of the PLN. My focus was mostly on people whose thoughts were similar to mine or whose interests were the same as mine. But now I realize that a good PLN should include various voices, cultures and viewpoints.
Social media has promoted communication in many aspects. It enables people to share their ideas quickly and establish connections with people all over the world. For instance, teachers, students and professionals can learn from online posts, videos and discussions. This makes learning more open and flexible.
However, social media can also make communication more difficult. Sometimes people can only see one-sided information. Algorithms may push us content that we already agree with, rather than different viewpoints. This limits learning and causes the “echo chamber effect”.
I believe inclusiveness means ensuring that everyone has a say. A good PLN should not only include the mainstream voices, but also those from smaller or different communities. This helps me learn new ideas and better understand others.
My PLN is becoming increasingly diverse as I strive to pay attention to people from various backgrounds and fields. I also read articles and watch videos from different perspectives. This helps me deepen my understanding of inclusiveness.
False information is also a major problem. Sometimes, fake news spreads rapidly on social media, which can mislead people and lead to incorrect perceptions. Therefore, I need to carefully verify the information before sharing it.
Workplaces also have regulations regarding the use of social media. Employers expect employees to act responsibly online. This means we should respect others, be honest and trustworthy, and be cautious when posting content. A professional personal learning network should reflect these values.
In conclusion, a diverse and inclusive personal learning network is extremely important. It helps me acquire more knowledge, think more deeply, and gain a deeper understanding of the world.
